Katlyn + Austin

January 14, 2020

When I reflect back on Katlyn and Austin's wedding day the image to the right always pops into my mind. I can think back to the first time we sat down with Katlyn and her mom to discuss possibly helping her plan her wedding. Their warm smiles and kind eyes immediatly connected us to them. As Katlyn began to talk about Austin and their upcoming wedding she shared with us that a very important part of their family was extremely sick and they hoped she would be able to attend their wedding.

As the months ticked on and planning sessions continued Katlyn and Austin's wedding began to take shape. We worked closely with Missy from A Family Affair Event Rentals. She is our go to gal when it comes to anything rental. Missy is probably one of the hardest working people in our local industry. Her creativity, spunk, and endless energy inspire us to work harder every time we collaborate. Katlyn and Missy decided on velvet napkins and bold gold floral stands to set the tone within the beautiful local venue The Charleston.

After sitting down to discuss floral options Katlyn has us drooling over her inspiration pictures and floral choices. She was using just enough color to make her bouquets pop and the perfect amount of unusual flowers to stand out. Pairing the bouquet with some custom velvet ribbon only made things even more amazing.

When we finally got to the wedding day everyone was charged with emotion. Austin's grandmother had taken a turn for the worse and her attending the wedding was no longer an option. As the morning slowly ticked on we received word that his grandmother had passed away. The bride and groom had not planned to be together until the ceremony, but once Austin found out he immediatly came to Katlyn's side to tell her. Everyone was heartbroken. The beautiful thing about this woman, that we never had the honor to meet, was that her spirit and legacy would live on. The values and love that she had instilled in her family were so obvious in that moment of loss. Although they mourned, they also celebrated. They knew that it would be her greatest honor and blessing to see them married. The wedding continued on. Emotions were high but love took over. As Katlyn and Austin said multiple times, what an honor that on the day they were united in marriage his grandmother was reunited in heaven with her late husband. This was such an inspiring way to find beauty in the tragedy.

I think for Kacey and I this wedding will always hold a special place in our heart. Although we spend such a short amount of time with our couples, there are certain things that bond us together forever.
