Maura + Terry Michael

A few months shy of a year ago, Kacey and I sat down for one of our very first consultations in Spencer's Coffee shop. We were anxious and uncertain of ourselves and our business. Sitting across from Janet and her daughter Maura we just hoped that they wouldn’t see our newness to the wedding coordinating world. As we talked our way through our pre-meeting questionnaire, all four of us seemed to really connect.

Over the course of the next year we spent lots of time texting, calling, and consulting with Janet and Maura. The vision for Maura and Terry Michael’s wedding was a warm, family centered celebration of their love. The ceremony and the reception would take place on Terry Michael’s family farm in Lebanon, Tennessee. A large white tent would be set up next to a classic red barn that was surrounded by open fields and a small stream.

When pulling onto the family land Friday night for rehearsal I was greeted by Terry Michael’s grandparents and mother. They are the type of people that you want to just hug around the neck and share a cup of coffee with. You could see how proud they were of hosting the wedding and how much work and love they had put into the day. When I met Terry Michael for the first time I could immediately see why Maura couldn’t wait to marry him with his kind eyes and wide smile.

Friday before the wedding it rained, and rained, and rained. The late October temperatures dropped pretty low all day and evening. Despite the less than desirable weather conditions, Maura and Terry Michael took it all in stride. All evening you could see how the couple was just focused on getting married. The weather conditions didn’t really matter to them.

Saturday morning, when arriving to check in on the bridal party, all the ladies were calm and relaxed. I couldn’t believe how laid back everyone was. Pulling into the family farm, I felt the same calm and relaxed atmosphere. Barbara Sue, a family friend, was finishing up her decorating and floral design while Terry Michael’s grandfather was trying to wrangle the parking. All afternoon things moved along in the same relaxing pace. Finally at 4 PM the bridal party starting making their way down the aisle and Maura was driven up in Terry Michael’s prized truck. As she walked down the aisle with her mom Janet, the burst of pure love and joy spread over that entire farm. Few people were left with a dry eye as she and Terry Michael joined hands and lives through marriage.

Looking back on the day, there were a few things that didn’t go as planned, but overall the day was filled with love, friendship, and family. Who could ask for more?

To Maura and Terry Michael,

We hope you have many years of adventure and laughter together. You have a rich family history between the two of you and we cannot wait to see you add to that. Thank you for asking us to be a part of your amazing day.

Love, Blair and Kacey
